Oh, great bear of the woods—

The fierce protectress, the untouchable mother, the bravery of a heart that knows.

Oh, great beast of the forests—

Healer in the alcoves, huntress in the streams, and dreamer of life’s greatest dreams.

When bear appears in your life, it’s a sign that you must redirect yourself back into your deepest natural rhythms—the ones found when you follow your inner-truth.

Bear, who survives by ruthlessly following the rhythms its nature demands, reminds us that sometimes our truth may ask we step into a great bravery that we may not feel ready for. While other times, our truth may demand we take a step back even when all we crave is to move ahead.

This is because our truths, as bear reminds us, are not dictated by the desires of the small mind, but by the greater wisdom of our larger nature.

Whenever we feel off-course, or we don’t know where to turn to next, it’s often because we have forgotten to consult our inner-truths or we have allowed the opinions and sway of others to dull our knowing senses.

This a sign that it’s time to trust your instincts above all else.

Where have you been ignoring or doubting your subtle intuition?

Where have you been allowing fear or force to override your truth?

Where have you been allowing the whims of others to direct your life?

What signs have been appearing in your life?

What personal season are you currently in, and have you been allowing its medicine to nourish you?

Bear knows when it’s time to hibernate and when it’s time to re-emerge.

Bear knows when danger is lurking and when that rustling is just the wind.

Because bear is deeply in-tune with the subtle rhythms and knowings that live both inside and outside of us all.

You see, bear is our reminder that the wisdom of our nature (and nature as a whole) is often spoken in a subtle voice. And if we are rushing too much or ignoring the signs, we may miss this truth entirely.

For truth, as bear reminds us, may not always be an easy path.

But it’s always the path of least resistance.

And there is great honor in fearlessly, ruthlessly, following that path of truth.

As we sink deeper into the many layered lessons of truth, bear might call forth the wisdom of the healer. For bear, as a sign of deep transformative wisdom, is also the symbol for the healer and the healed.

Bear is both the tender nourishing of the mother and the unshakeable wisdom of the medicine woman—both the grounding force found outside in nature and the quiet healing found inside the den.

Bear can sometimes come to us when it’s time we acknowledge our innate healing gifts and pursue them as our path. And other times, bear may come through when it is you that needs to receive the healing gifts of others on your own journey towards greater health.

At its deepest core, bear is a symbol of the strength, power, transformation, and wisdom that comes when we heed our instincts.

After all, the instinctual way is the way of nature itself.

There is a calling that lives inside all our hearts, and bear reminds us that listening to that calling is the most important thing one can do.

Is life asking you to be brave?

Is life asking you to be still?

What is life asking you to do?

You already know what language your truth speaks, my love.

And bear is here to remind you that you have everything you need to follow it through.
