Welcome to April. This month, awaken with the earth. The frost melts, the buds stretch, and birds returns to the trees. April is the season of Persephone’s rise, of maiden energy, of rain and rebirth. As daylight lingers a little longer, the world feels reborn, fragrant with new life and green intentions.

This is a time of sacred thresholds, when we move from dreaming to doing, from the cave to the clearing. The veil remains thin, but it glows with growth rather than grief. This month invites flower offerings, rainwater rituals, and planting spells. Let your altars overflow with flowers and gifts from the earth.

Festivals and Gatherings…

April 1st, once the Roman festival of Veneralia, celebrated Venus and Fortuna Virilis—goddesses of love and fortune. It was a day for washing statues, cleansing temples, and asking for beauty and blessings in love.

Eostre’s Feast, from which Easter takes its name, is an ancient celebration of the dawn goddess Eostre or Ostara. Rabbits, eggs, and flowers are her symbols, all tied to fertility and the returning light.

Walpurgisnacht, the Witches' Night, takes place on April 30th into May 1st. In Germanic and Nordic regions, this night is when witches fly and the veil between worlds thins. It’s a time for bonfires, protection, and preparing for Beltane.

Other than Sabbats…

In Greek mythology, Persephone returns from the underworld in the spring, her return bringing blossoms to the earth. Her ascent marks the turning of the tide—life reawakening, death releasing its hold. April is her month.

The rain is sacred in April. In Norse myth, Freyja weeps tears of gold for her missing husband, and some say the spring rains are her longing. Let the rain wash over your magick—collect it, bless it, use it to water seeds, both physical and spiritual.

In Celtic stories, fairy hills open more easily in spring. Tread gently through meadows and hedgerows, and leave offerings for the Good Folk.

Monthly Associations

Connect with Rose Quartz in April.

Rose Quartz opens the heart, welcomes new love—both romantic and self-directed—and softens grief from seasons past. Hold it in ritual or place it beside your bed to welcome Venusian blessings.

In the Celtic Tree Calendar, April belongs to Willow.

Willow is the tree of the moon, dreams, intuition, and feminine energy. It bends but does not break, teaching us how to flow with change and root in watery wisdom.

The Earth & Stars...

April begins in Aries, the firestarter, and ends in Taurus, the earth anchor. It’s a month that spans bold beginnings and grounding growth.

Work with your inner Aries to take action, then let Taurus teach you patience and presence. This is a month of contrast—light and dark, bloom and rain, action and rest.

Monthly Intentions

April is a time to rise, to sprout, to speak. Let this month be a garden of possibilities.

Write down your dreams, water your intentions, and cleanse your home with spring herbs. Sing to your plants. Dance in the rain.

Let April remind you: you, too, are made of cycles, and spring is your birthright.

Blessed Be. 🌷
